Indian startup Sarvam has partnered with Meta to introduce Hindi language support on Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
Announcing the collaboration in a post on X, Sarvam said it is “partnering with Meta to bring Indic voices to Ray-Ban Meta glasses, starting with full Hindi support.” Powered by Sarvam’s foundational language models, the update allows users to interact with Meta AI entirely in Hindi, asking questions, getting real-time information, capturing photos and videos, answering calls and texts, and controlling media hands-free with natural voice commands.
Meta acknowledged the collaboration in its blog post, noting that the update uses tools from “Sarvam, one of the leading foundation model companies in India.” This marks an important milestone for both companies, combining Meta’s global AI ecosystem with Sarvam’s local language expertise to advance on-device AI and Indic-language integration on next-generation wearables.
Beyond language, Meta is rolling out several India-focused features to make the Ray-Ban Meta glasses more useful and personal. Users can now select Hindi as their preferred language under Device Settings → Meta AI → Language and Voice in the Meta AI app.
Meta AI is also introducing a celebrity assistant voice of Deepika Padukone (available in IN-EN), joining its global lineup of recognizable voices. Users can interact with Meta AI using their voice, and the assistant will reply out loud through the glasses or app, whether to answer a question, explain a concept, or just tell a joke.
To celebrate the festive season, Meta has added a “Hey Meta, Restyle This” feature that lets users transform their photos with Diwali-themed effects like lights, fireworks, and rangoli.
And in a uniquely Indian innovation, Meta is testing UPI Lite payments directly from the glasses. Demonstrated at the Global Fintech Fest, users will soon be able to make secure QR-code payments under ₹1,000 by saying “Hey Meta, scan and pay,” with transactions processed through their WhatsApp-linked bank account.
