Meta Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg is building an AI “CEO agent” to help him run Meta Platforms more efficiently, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing an unidentified person familiar with the project.
The experimental AI agent is designed to help Zuckerberg access information faster, cutting through layers of management to retrieve answers he would otherwise need multiple teams to compile, the report said, adding that the tool is still under development.
Another AI tool, which is somewhere between a chatbot and an agent, and dubbed Second Brain, is gaining momentum internally, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.
Second Brain, developed by a Meta employee and built on top of Claude, can index and query documents across projects.
Employees are also experimenting with personal AI agents such as “My Claw,” capable of scanning chat logs, accessing work files, and even communicating with colleagues, or their AI agents, on their behalf, the report added, citing the people.
The developments come as Meta accelerates its broader AI push, including its reported acquisition of Chinese startup Manus. The startup has claimed its AI agent outperforms advanced research tools like OpenAI DeepResearch.
Meanwhile, the idea of an AI-powered CEO assistant has sparked debate online.
One user on X joked: “wait so hes gonna use ai to auto like family posts and remind him to drink water… next update is ai running q4 earnings calls while zuck plays pickleball or something.”
Others struck a more serious tone. “First AI writes code. Now it helps run companies. What happens when it does both better than humans?” one comment read.
Another pointed to a broader shift in how work is structured: “Projects that used to require big teams are now accomplished by a single very talented person. Meta is flattening teams and elevating individual contributors because of AI tooling. If the CEO is building an AI agent for himself, that’s the signal for what’s coming for every layer below him.”
