Magicpin Fast-Tracks AI Rollout as LPG Crisis Disrupts Restaurants

Food delivery and e-commerce platform magicpin has accelerated the launch of its AI assistant, ‘Vera’, positioning it as a real-time operational tool for restaurants and retailers grappling with supply shocks and thin margins.
Originally in trial, Vera has already onboarded over 100,000 merchants, offering live insights into order volumes to help businesses better plan inventory, staffing, and demand.
But its official rollout was pulled forward in response to a more immediate crisis, the ongoing shortage of commercial LPG cylinders impacting food delivery partners across India.
Magicpin said Vera stepped in as an AI-enabled support layer during the disruption, helping restaurants adapt quickly by tracking demand shifts and operational constraints in real time.
The company sees the tool as a way to lower digital and operational barriers for small businesses, many of which operate on tight margins and struggle with visibility online.
The move comes as the industry navigates turbulence triggered by the West Asia conflict, which has disrupted LPG supplies.
“Orders in cuisines that rely significantly on LPG-based cooking initially saw a dip of about 5-10%, but demand has started to recover as restaurants adjust their operations,” magicpin CEO Anshoo Sharma told the Press Trust of India.
However, recovery is already underway. Restaurants have begun tweaking menus and switching to alternative cooking methods, stabilizing demand. To support this transition, magicpin is also distributing induction cooking stoves to around 10,000 affected partners, aiming to keep kitchens running despite fuel constraints.
Sharma noted that while the disruption has been sharp, it is likely to be short-lived, with the sector once again showing resilience in the face of external shocks.
