Amazon Deepens Anthropic Ties With Up to $25 Billion Investment
The deal includes a cloud commitment exceeding $100 billion and expanded use of Amazon’s custom AI chips.

Amazon has agreed to invest up to $25 billion more in artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, deepening an existing partnership focused on building large-scale AI infrastructure.
The latest commitment includes an initial $5 billion investment, with up to an additional $20 billion tied to certain commercial milestones. This builds on the roughly $8 billion Amazon has already invested in the company.
As part of the expanded agreement, Anthropic said it will spend more than $100 billion over the next decade on Amazon Web Services infrastructure.
The commitment covers the use of Amazon’s custom chips, including current and future versions of Trainium, as well as other computing resources.
Anthropic said it has secured access to up to 5 gigawatts of capacity to train and run its Claude AI models. The company expects significant Trainium2 capacity to come online in the near term, with nearly 1 gigawatt of combined Trainium2 and Trainium3 capacity planned by the end of 2026.
“Our collaboration with Amazon will allow us to continue advancing AI research while delivering Claude to our customers,” said Dario Amodei, co-founder and chief executive of Anthropic.
Amazon said the partnership reflects growing demand for AI computing and the role of custom silicon in lowering costs and improving performance.
“Anthropic’s commitment to run its large language models on AWS Trainium for the next decade reflects the progress we’ve made together on custom silicon,” said Andy Jassy, chief executive of Amazon.
The partnership also includes broader access to Anthropic’s AI tools within AWS accounts and additional computing capacity in regions including Asia and Europe.
Anthropic said annualized revenue has surpassed $30 billion in 2026, up from about $9 billion at the end of 2025, as rising usage puts pressure on its infrastructure, particularly during peak periods.
