India’s Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (tcs) said artificial intelligence is evolving from a peripheral layer to the “infrastructure of intelligence” for businesses, as Chairman N. Chandrasekaran highlighted in the company’s FY26 annual report, emphasizing its role in investment, supply chains, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
Generative and agentic AI are entering a new growth phase, Chandrasekaran said, and enterprises are moving from pilot projects to large-scale deployments.
“AI is now becoming the infrastructure of intelligence … AI will not just be a layer but will be the operating foundation,” he wrote, as TCS accelerates its shift toward full-stack AI offerings and scales enterprise adoption.
The company reported about $2.3 billion in annualiZed AI services revenue in FY26 and $11.5 billion from new‑age services such as cloud, data, enterprise solutions, and cybersecurity, in a year the company called pivotal for enterprise AI adoption.
Total revenue for the fiscal year stood at around $30 billion, with deal wins amounting to about $40.7 billion in total contract value.
TCS is implementing a “Human+AI” operating model and an industry-specific agent marketplace as part of its full-stack strategy, positioning itself as an AI and digital transformation partner rather than a traditional IT outsourcer.
The company has also entered the data center business and launched HyperVault, an AI infrastructure platform developed with partners, as it seeks to build secure, resilient foundations for large-scale AI workloads.
Chandrasekaran noted that India is emerging as a strategic “+1” destination for AI infrastructure amid global constraints on power, compute, and geography, and flagged plans to construct what the company describes as India’s first AI-focused high-density data centre.
Chief Executive and Managing Director K. Krithivasan said TCS aims to be the “world’s largest AI-led technology services company,” adding: “Our strategy to realize this aspiration is to be a full-stack AI services player from infrastructure to intelligence. We will focus on building industry-specific AI systems, expanding partnerships, and developing secure and scalable AI infrastructure to support enterprise adoption.”
He highlighted that a large majority of TCS’ top enterprise clients have already chosen the company as their AI services partner, underscoring its end-to-end positioning in enterprise intelligence.
The emphasis on AI infrastructure and full-stack capabilities comes amid intensifying global competition for AI talent and technology investments, as enterprises seek to embed AI deeply into operations and decision-making processes.
