IIT Kanpur’s C3iHub has partnered with Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University (DBRAU) in Agra and Vivekanand Incubation Foundation to launch a Hindi-language cybersecurity program aimed at more than 300,000 students across 570-plus affiliated colleges.
The tripartite agreement, signed on August 14, will deliver the vocational course entirely online, with a particular focus on students in semi-urban and rural areas who may face language barriers in accessing technical instruction in English.
C3iHub will design and deliver the curriculum, while Vivekanand Incubation Foundation will provide the administrative and technical infrastructure needed to run the program at scale.
The course will cover cybercrime, cyber hygiene, social-media threats, identity theft, personal-data leaks, online safety for women and children, the dark web and cyberterrorism. It will also include quizzes, workshops and customized virtual labs intended to provide practical experience.
DBRAU will establish a Cybersecurity Counselling Cell to help prevent and mitigate cybercrime incidents and support students affected by them.
“Cybersecurity is no longer a specialized subject for engineers alone; it is a basic life skill,” DBRAU vice chancellor Ashu Rani said.
She said offering the program in students’ own language would allow the university to provide cybersecurity training at scale.
C3iHub is IIT Kanpur’s cybersecurity technology hub, established with funding from the Department of Science and Technology under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems. It works on cybersecurity research, technology development, startups and training.
IIT Kanpur’s announcement did not specify when classes would begin, how long the course would run or the requirements for certification.
