India accounted for several of the week’s biggest developments. Private AI investment more than tripled to $4.1 billion in 2025, CoreWeave unveiled a 240 MW India buildout, and IBM expanded research partnerships with IIT Bombay and IISc.
Elsewhere, Meta deployed new tools against ads linked to child sexual abuse material, CrowdStrike documented agentic AI in cyberattacks, and the Trump administration set up a federal AI task force.
India’s AI Money Surge
Private AI investment in India rose to $4.1 billion in 2025 from $1.2 billion a year earlier, the World Bank said. India is among the top 10 emerging-market performers on AI readiness, though only about 23% of Indian firms use AI, compared with 43% in the US.

Meta Goes After the Redirect
Meta rolled out AI tools to detect ads that appear harmless but direct users to child sexual abuse material or other exploitative activity off-platform. It said it acted on 5.3 million pieces of child sexual exploitation content in India in the first half of 2026, more than 98% of them before users reported them.

CoreWeave Picks Navi Mumbai
CoreWeave plans 240 MW of AI computing capacity across three AdaniConneX buildings in Navi Mumbai, with the first phase due in mid-2028. It will be the sole tenant and has an option to add another 240 MW at the campus.

IBM Takes AI Back to Campus
IBM expanded research partnerships with IIT Bombay and IISc covering Indic and sovereign AI, multimodal systems, agentic AI and quantum computing. The collaborations build on research programs IBM began with the two institutions in 2018 and 2021.

Agentic AI Enters the Attack Chain
CrowdStrike found an attacker using the agentic penetration-testing tool ARTEX alongside large language models in a campaign against South Korean financial organizations. It assessed the operator as Chinese-speaking and financially motivated but did not attribute the attacks to China or a known group.

Trump Gives AI 120 Days
US President Donald Trump named Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to lead the new Super Intelligence Force. The federal task force has 120 days to assess AI risks and opportunities and recommend how the government should respond without, in the administration’s words, stifling innovation through overregulation.

OpenAI Tries Mass Math
OpenAI released 722 AI-generated mathematics manuscripts grouped into 372 result families. They emerged from an evaluation involving about 4,000 problems, but not every manuscript has a computer-checkable proof and verification remains incomplete.

Teen Safeguards Fail Stress Test
Common Sense Media rated ChatGPT for Teens an “Unacceptable Risk” after more than 4,000 tests found gaps in parental alerts and crisis referrals involving suicide, self-harm and eating disorders. OpenAI disputed the findings, saying much of the testing may have occurred before parental controls were fully activated. Common Sense said it had confirmed the teen features were active during its post-launch tests.
