  • Aditya Birla Ventures, the venture capital arm of the Aditya Birla Group, has invested in US-based generative artificial intelligence startup Articul8 AI, marking the latest push by an Indian conglomerate into enterprise AI.

The size of the investment was not disclosed, though the oversubscribed round also drew participation from Adara Ventures and NXC Corporation, with a final strategic tranche expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.

Once completed, the Series B round is expected to raise about $70 million.

The latest funding values Santa Clara-headquartered Articul8 AI at more than $500 million, around five times its Series A valuation. Existing investors include Intel and DigitalBridge, which is in the process of being acquired by SoftBank.

Founded by Arun Subramaniyan, Articul8 provides enterprises with a full stack platform to build and deploy generative AI applications within their own IT environments.

The approach is designed to address concerns around data security and leakage by allowing models to operate inside company controlled systems. The startup said it has crossed $90 million in total contract value, more than triple its 2024 levels.

Aryaman Vikram Birla, founder of Aditya Birla Ventures, said the firm was backing the firm based on its “confidence in the founding team and its belief in the long-term potential of enterprise focused AI platforms.”

He said generative AI was becoming a strategic necessity for businesses seeking to maintain competitiveness.

Articul8 said the fresh capital will be used to accelerate international expansion and support enterprise deployments across North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America.

It remains unclear whether Articul8’s technology will be integrated across the Aditya Birla Group’s businesses, which span metals, cement, financial services, fashion, telecom and paints.

Aditya Birla Ventures was set up in 2021 and focuses on investments from pre Series A to Series B stages.
