Cognizant Wins Mega Contract from Centene: Report
The unannounced contract could approach $1 billion and is expected to use Cognizant’s TriZetto platform for claims, billing and customer-service operations.

Cognizant has secured a multiyear technology-services contract from US health insurer Centene valued at more than $500 million, Moneycontrol reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
The contract could approach $1 billion depending on its structure, the report said. Centene is an existing Cognizant customer, indicating the agreement may combine renewed work with new business.
Neither company has announced the contract.
Cognizant is expected to use its TriZetto healthcare software and automation tools to support high-volume medical billing, claims adjudication and customer-service operations, according to Moneycontrol.
Business Standard separately reported that the contract was worth about $500 million, citing a person familiar with the matter.
It also said Centene would use TriZetto for billing, claims and call-center services.
The reports have not disclosed the contract’s duration, annual revenue contribution, implementation timetable or how much represents new business.
The award, if confirmed at the upper end of the reported range, would qualify as a mega deal under Cognizant’s definition of contracts worth at least $500 million.
Cognizant said it signed one mega deal and seven large deals worth more than $100 million each during the first quarter of 2026. The total contract value of its large deals rose more than 70% from a year earlier.
Healthcare is one of Cognizant’s largest businesses. The company says its healthcare operations support about 200 million US members and process 4.4 billion payer-provider transactions annually.
Its TriZetto software is used by health insurers to administer member benefits, process claims and manage payments and other transactions between insurers and healthcare providers.
The reported Centene contract would renew a relationship altered by an earlier takeover.
Cognizant signed a seven-year agreement worth about $2.7 billion with Health Net in 2014. The scope was reworked after Centene acquired Health Net in 2016 because parts of the agreement overlapped with Centene’s existing systems and suppliers.
Cognizant continued to provide selected technology and business-process services under a separate arrangement valued at about $520 million, according to Moneycontrol.
Centene provides managed-care services mainly through US government-supported programs, including Medicaid and Medicare, as well as health plans sold through the federal insurance marketplace.
The company describes itself as the largest Medicaid managed-care provider in the US.
Cognizant is scheduled to report its second-quarter results on 29 July, when it could provide more information about recent contract wins.
