India’s chartered accountants body is in talks with the government to feed authenticated company data into domestic AI models, according to the Press Trust of India.
An Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) official said the institute could provide financial and economic information on listed companies, including balance sheets and audit reports, for use in India-grown large language models.
Electronics and IT Secretary S. Krishnan said last week the government expects to have a sovereign AI model ready before the India AI Impact Summit scheduled for 19–20 February.
ICAI has separately flagged ways it is deploying AI to support members’ audit work, citing automation of repetitive tasks, continuous auditing, and analytics for fraud detection and risk assessment.
An ICAI official told PTI the institute is also working on measures to curb online and digital frauds, with a goal of cutting such cases materially.
