Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has secured an order worth ₹10,000 crore to ₹15,000 crore ($1.05 billion to $1.57 billion) from US-based Together AI to build a 10,000-GPU AI factory in Chennai, marking its entry into the AI factory business.

The project will be developed by LTN Compute, a subsidiary of L&T’s Vyoma.AI business, and will use Nvidia B300 GPUs for AI model training, fine-tuning and large-scale inference, L&T said on Thursday, August 13.

L&T described it as India’s largest single-cluster AI infrastructure deployment. The facility will power Together AI’s cloud platform for companies building and running AI models.

The 10,000 GPUs will be housed at Vyoma’s Chennai data center campus, where the first phase is designed for 250 megawatts and has 150 MVA of power infrastructure readiness. L&T said the site can accommodate further expansion.

The system will combine accelerated computing, high-performance networking and parallel storage to support large AI workloads.

“AI factories will power this transformation,” L&T Chairman and Managing Director S.N. Subrahmanyan said, adding that the Together AI deployment was part of the group’s broader push to build gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure.

Together AI Chief Executive Vipul Ved Prakash said the company selected L&T to provide the scale and engineering required for its India infrastructure. 

The project gives L&T exposure to a segment extending beyond conventional data centres. Through LTN Compute, the group is also developing GPU rental services, sovereign cloud infrastructure and managed AI platforms.
