  • Prisma Global has become the first Indian AI firm to tap the bond market, raising ₹200 crore or about $20.9 million, in a debut issue that attracted nearly eight times the amount initially sought.

The two-year bonds carry a 10% interest rate. Prisma initially sought ₹50 crore, or $5.2 million, with the issue fully subscribed within the first hour after opening on Monday, 17 August. By 3 pm, bids had reached nearly eight times the base issue.

Prisma then exercised a ₹150 crore, or $15.7 million, greenshoe option, taking the total issue to ₹200 crore. Ankit Gupta, founder of BondsIndia, which arranged the offering, told The Times of India that the strong demand reflected investor confidence in both the issuer and the transaction.

The transaction is the first debt offering in India by an AI solutions company, according to The Times of India.

Mumbai-based Prisma develops computer-vision and visual AI systems used in areas including crowd management, public safety, airports and crime prevention.

Credit rating agency Acuité Ratings and Research assigned the proposed non-convertible debentures an A rating with a Stable outlook. Its 4 August assessment said the securities were proposed to be listed and that the proceeds would be used for working capital.

The group reported provisional operating income of ₹1,492.53 crore, or  $156 million, for the year ended March 2026, up from ₹947.75 crore a year ago, while profit after tax rose to ₹161.60 crore, or $16.9 million, from ₹57.77 crore.

The bond sale gives Prisma capital without diluting existing shareholders but adds fixed interest and repayment obligations. The issue also provides an early test of whether India’s growing AI companies can broaden their funding sources beyond venture capital and private equity.
