IT giant Capgemini has named COO Sanjay Chalke as the CEO for India, effective January 1, 2026.

Chalke will succeed Ashwin Yardi, who will take on the role of Non-Executive Chairman. Yardi, a company veteran, has served as the CEO for seven years, out of his 30-years tenure.

“I am delighted to welcome Sanjay Chalke as the new CEO of Capgemini in India. Under his leadership, we look forward to accelerating our growth even further, deepening our impact, and continuing to strengthen India as a center for innovation, technology, and transformation. I look forward to working closely with both Ashwin and Sanjay,” said Aiman Ezzat, Chief Executive Officer, Capgemini.

Yardi will focus on nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and will support Chalke in this transition.

“Ashwin has been instrumental in establishing Capgemini’s industry leadership and talent in India. During his leadership, Capgemini in India has seen significant growth, expanding from 105,500 to nearly 180,000 team members,” added Ezzat.

With over 25 years of experience, Chalke’s previous stints have included Siemens, Covansys, and DXC Technologies (formerly CSC). He joined Capgemini in 2016 as Vice President of Delivery Transformation.

As the COO, he focused on operational excellence, talent acquisition, delivery assurance, and building cross-functional synergies across business units.

Interestingly, Yardi also transitioned from COO to become CEO. In the role of COO of Capgemini in India, he managed operations, delivery, capability development, and Innovation across the country.
