  • Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), India’s  largest IT services provider, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Switzerland-based industrial technology group ABB to expand collaboration across AI, digital infrastructure, and emerging technologies.

The agreement outlines a long-term partnership covering IT infrastructure, applications, data centers, and factory modernization as both companies look to build AI-enabled industrial systems.

A key focus will be upgrading ABB’s technology backbone, including more agile and secure IT infrastructure aligned with its operating model, the companies said.

ABB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Morten Wierod said the partnership would help ABB scale innovation and strengthen its presence in India, a key growth market.

“Partnering with TCS helps ABB build smarter systems, adapt faster, and scale our innovations globally,” he said, adding that the collaboration would also support data center expansion plans.

The companies will also explore industrial AI use cases, including digital twins, vision-based inspection systems and deeper integration between operational technology (OT) and IT environments.

They will examine opportunities linked to AI infrastructure development in India, particularly in electrification and automation.

“This partnership reflects our shared ambition to move beyond incremental transformation and shape the next era of industrial enterprises,” said TCS Managing Director and CEO K. Krithivasan. “By combining ABB’s leadership in electrification and automation with TCS’ technical expertise in AI, data, and engineering, we aim to cocreate intelligent, resilient, and future ready industrial solutions at scale.”

“Together, we are not just modernizing the technology landscapes, we are advancing a new model of AI-led industrial innovation that delivers shared value across our global operations,” he added.

The agreement comes as global enterprises increasingly look to blend industrial systems with AI-driven intelligence, turning factories, infrastructure, and supply chains into data-rich, automated environments.
