Uber to Build First India Data Center With Adani Group
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said the facility will be ready later this year as the company expands its technology and engineering footprint in India.

Uber Technologies will set up its first data center in India in partnership with the Adani Group, as the ride-hailing company deepens its technology and infrastructure investments in one of its fastest-growing markets.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, who is on a five-day visit to India, announced the plan after meeting Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad. The facility is expected to become operational later this year.
“As India fast emerges as a leading innovation hub for Uber, we are setting up our first data center in the country with Adani Group to test and deploy our tech,” Khosrowshahi said in a post on X. “Ready later this year, this investment will help us build at scale, from India, for the world.”

The announcement builds on Uber’s existing partnership with Adani Group. In 2024, the two companies announced a collaboration to integrate Uber’s electric vehicle services with the Adani One platform and expand mobility offerings across Adani-operated airports.
Khosrowshahi also met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi to discuss Uber’s India investment roadmap. He said the number of people earning through Uber in India has quadrupled since his last meeting with Sitharaman in 2022.
“We had a rich conversation about Uber’s strategic investment roadmap for India and how platforms like ours can be genuine partners in the journey toward #ViksitBharat2047,” Khosrowshahi said.
In Hyderabad, Khosrowshahi met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and discussed Uber’s expansion plans in the state.
Uber plans to expand its Center of Excellence in Hyderabad, which Khosrowshahi said was the company’s first such facility outside the US and currently employs about 600 engineers.
Uber also expressed interest in setting up a corporate office in Bharat Future City, a planned development near Hyderabad.
Reddy urged the company to study opportunities in parking management, including multi-level parking facilities and EV charging centers. Uber representatives said they would examine the proposal.
The Hyderabad meeting was attended by Uber Chief Business Officer Madhu Kannan, Uber India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh, Chief Technology Officer Praveen Nippalli Naga and Chief Minister’s Special Secretary Ajit Reddy.
