Salesforce Inc. plans to hire 1,000 graduates and interns through a new program focused on artificial intelligence-related roles.
The initiative, called Builder, will recruit candidates through Futureforce, Salesforce’s university hiring program. The roles will span engineering, product, sales, and other teams connected to the company’s Agentforce platform.
The company said entry-level hiring across industries declined 6% over the past year as businesses reduced hiring for junior roles and automated some routine tasks.
“The AI-native generation entering the workforce today isn’t threatened by AI. They’re the ones building it. Businesses can’t afford to wait for their workforce to catch up to AI. That’s why we’re betting on Builders now to redesign how we work and redefine our business from the inside out,” said Nathalie Scardino, Chief People Officer at Salesforce, in a statement.
Salesforce also released a workforce guide outlining hiring and training approaches for AI-related work. The document focuses on AI fluency, adaptability, and collaboration between employees and AI systems.
The company said it has hired more than 10,000 early-career professionals through Futureforce over the years.
“The traditional boundaries of my role are blurring,” Liz Awad, Senior Product Manager and Futureforce graduate at Salesforce, said in the release. “With AI, I’m no longer just handing off requirements. I’m building with my engineers and designers in a much more profound way.”
The announcement comes as layoffs continue across the technology sector, with companies restructuring teams and reworking operations around AI. More than 80,000 tech workers lost their jobs globally in the first quarter of 2026 alone.
Major workforce reductions this year have included about 8000 staff at Meta, between 12,000 and 15,000 jobs at Cognizant, between 20,000 and 30,000 positions at Oracle, and more than 12,000 roles at Tata Consultancy Services. Companies including Freshworks, Coinbase, and PayPal have also announced job cuts this year.
