Avataar AI has been through more than one reinvention, and each time it has emerged better capitalized and more focused. Founded in 2015 by Sravanth Aluru, who previously worked at Microsoft and Deutsche Bank, the Bengaluru company started out building 3D models and interactive visual experiences for e-commerce. It has since raised $55.5 million across six rounds, including a $45 million Series B led by Tiger Global and Sequoia Capital India.
The current chapter is about generative video. Velocity, its flagship product, allows brands to generate product videos directly from a product URL, compressing a production process that once took weeks into a matter of minutes.
Avataar is now going deeper into agentic AI, developing domain-specific small language models that deliver large-model accuracy at a fraction of the inference cost. It is currently working with IndiaAI on deploying its agentic platforms under the national mission, which gives it both government credibility and enterprise access that most of its peers cannot claim.
