HDFC AMC Reports Cybersecurity Incident, Says Operations Not Hit

The asset manager said an anonymous claim of IT access prompted a probe, but its initial assessment found no material operational impact.

  • HDFC Asset Management Co. said it reported a cybersecurity incident after receiving an anonymous claim of access to parts of its information technology infrastructure.

    The incident occurred on 16 May, the company said in a regulatory filing. 

    HDFC AMC said it activated containment and incident response protocols and hired a specialist firm to assess the potential impact.

    The company said its detailed assessment is continuing, but its initial review showed the incident was unlikely to affect business continuity or operations.

    “Based on the initial assessment, the incident is unlikely to affect the continuity of our business and operations and there doesn’t appear to be any material impact on the Company’s operations,” HDFC AMC said in the filing.

    The company said it made the disclosure under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s listing regulations.

    Shares of HDFC AMC closed nearly 3% lower on Monday, 18 May, after the disclosure, but rebounded on Tuesday, rising 1.29% to close at ₹2,657.05 on BSE Ltd.

    The disclosure comes about a month after HDFC AMC reported a 2.4% year-on-year decline in consolidated profit after tax to ₹622.66 crore for the quarter ended March 2026.

    Revenue from operations rose 17% to ₹1,051.51 crore, the company said in its quarterly filing.

    HDFC AMC is the investment manager of HDFC Mutual Fund, one of India’s largest mutual fund houses. It also offers portfolio management services, alternative investment products and advisory services.
