  • Infosys has begun monitoring employees’ remote working hours and is sending advisory emails to those logging extended workdays, The Economic Times reported.

Under the company’s hybrid work policy, staff are expected to maintain a standard workday of around 9.15 hours, five days a week. Those who exceed this threshold receive a personalized alert from HR showing their logged hours and cautioning them about potential health risks.

The move comes amid growing awareness of the toll prolonged remote work can take on mental and physical well-being, as signs of burnout, stress, and related health issues emerge across the tech industry.

Infosys, which employs over 320,000 staff, implemented its hybrid model in November 2023, requiring employees to work from offices at least 10 days each month

The HR communications emphasize the importance of regular breaks, setting boundaries, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance to sustain long-term productivity

The advisories follow a broader debate triggered when Infosys co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy advocated a 70-hour workweek, a call later contrasted by the company’s proactive well-being campaign.

This internal push aligns Infosys with an emerging trend among Indian firms to place employee health at the heart of hybrid work strategies, amid growing concern over stress-related illnesses in corporate settings .
