European AI startup Mistral AI has raised €1.7 billion in a Series C funding round, valuing the company at €11.7 billion post-money. The funding will accelerate the company’s research and development of frontier AI technologies, with a focus on solving complex engineering and industrial challenges.
The round was led by Dutch semiconductor giant ASML Holding NV, marking a strategic partnership between the two technology leaders.
Christophe Fouquet, CEO of ASML said in a statement, “ASML is proud to enter a strategic partnership with Mistral AI, and to be lead investor in this funding round. The collaboration between Mistral AI and ASML aims to generate clear benefits for ASML customers through innovative products and solutions enabled by AI, and will offer potential for joint research to address future opportunities.”
Other participants in the round include existing backers DST Global, Andreessen Horowitz, Bpifrance, General Catalyst, Index Ventures, Lightspeed, and NVIDIA.

The company emphasized that the new funding reaffirms its independence while boosting its capacity to deliver state-of-the-art models, custom solutions, and high-performance compute infrastructure to global industries.
