Rajat Moona works at the intersection of computer science, public digital infrastructure and institutional technology design. He is Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar and has previously served as Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai and Director General of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, or C-DAC.
IIT Bhilai has credited him with developing software for India’s e-passport services, while IIT Kanpur material has cited his work across electronic toll collection, mobility cards and other national technology projects.
Moona’s work is relevant because AI adoption will depend not only on models and applications, but also on trusted digital infrastructure. As AI is added to identity systems, payments, transport, public services and other citizen-facing platforms, the design and governance of those systems will become central to public confidence.
