Industrial AI software firm Cognite is expanding its commercial operations in India, targeting manufacturers that are trying to use artificial intelligence across production, maintenance and industrial processes.
The company said the expansion builds on its India Center of Excellence in Bengaluru, opened last year, and will focus on helping manufacturers connect AI tools with existing operational and industrial systems.
India has become a larger market for industrial digitization as manufacturers look to improve productivity, reduce downtime and make better use of factory and supply chain data. But many companies still depend on fragmented legacy systems, making it difficult to deploy AI at scale.
Cognite said it aims to address that gap by helping companies organize and contextualize industrial data so it can be used in AI applications and operational decision-making.
“India is rapidly emerging as a global hub for industrial innovation and is playing a transformative role in accelerating the adoption of AI,” said Guru Ananthanarayanan, Managing Director for India at Cognite.
The company said its India strategy will focus on sectors including manufacturing, energy and industrial operations, where organizations are increasingly exploring AI to improve efficiency, reduce downtime and optimize production performance.
The expansion comes as both the government and private sector push to increase the use of AI and digital technologies across India’s industrial base. Manufacturers are also under pressure to modernize operations as they compete globally and invest in automation initiatives.
