Anthropic Opens Bengaluru Office, India Revenue Run Rate Doubles
The AI firm calls India its second largest market for Claude as enterprise adoption and developer demand surge.

Anthropic opened an office in Bengaluru on Monday, 16 February, betting on India after saying its revenue run rate there has doubled since October.
The San Francisco-based artificial intelligence firm said India has become its second-largest market globally for Claude, its suite of large language models and tools, with nearly half of usage tied to technically intense tasks such as coding, system modernization and production software.
The new facility, Anthropic’s first in India and second in Asia after its Tokyo office, will deepen local engagement with enterprises, startups and public-sector partners and support expanded hiring across engineering and customer success roles.
The Bengaluru launch was timed alongside the first day of the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, where chief executives and policymakers are gathering through 20 February.
Dario Amodei, speaking in Bengaluru at the company’s Builder Summit, an event tied to the India AI Impact Summit, described the India market as a “huge playground” for AI innovation, pointing to the scale of adoption and technical depth of local developers as differentiators in Anthropic’s growth story.
The company said the India team will support enterprise customers, digital native companies and startups building Claude powered applications, as it ramps local hiring around the new office.
The revenue acceleration comes amid broader industry momentum. Anthropic’s doubling of its India revenue run rate reflects not only enterprise uptake of Claude but also strong demand from startups and regulated sectors looking to embed AI into core operations.
Irina Ghose, managing director of Anthropic India, said the office opening comes alongside a slate of partnerships across sectors including aviation, education and agriculture.
In enterprise, the company said Air India is using Claude Code to help developers ship custom software faster, CRED reported faster feature delivery and improved test coverage, and Cognizant is deploying Claude to 350,000 employees globally as part of modernization and software development work.
In education, Anthropic said nonprofit Pratham is piloting an “Anytime Testing Machine” powered by Claude with 1,500 students across 20 schools, with a plan to expand to 100 schools by the end of 2026, and is extending the program to learners outside formal schooling.
The company is also pitching language capability as a core India investment. It said it has been curating training data across 10 widely spoken Indian languages, and is working with Karya and the Collective Intelligence Project to build evaluations for locally relevant tasks, with a plan to publish those evaluations for wider use.
The move comes as companies and government agencies in India step up spending on AI tools, and as global model makers race to secure developers, data and enterprise customers outside the US.
Anthropic’s India push follows a funding round in which it said it raised $30 billion at a $380 billion post money valuation, as it spends heavily on frontier model development and the compute required to train and run its systems.
In that announcement, the company also said its overall run rate revenue is $14 billion, and that Claude Code run rate revenue has grown to more than $2.5 billion, more than doubling since the beginning of 2026.
Amodei has argued that India’s scale matters for product learning and deployment, as adoption spreads from developers to regulated industries and public sector use cases where latency, compliance and local language performance become differentiators.
