S. Krishnan has been Secretary of India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology since September 2023. A 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, he oversees national work in areas such as e-governance, semiconductors, and cybersecurity.
Krishnan earlier served as Additional Chief Secretary for Industries and Finance in Tamil Nadu, founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board, and Senior Advisor at the International Monetary Fund, where he represented India in G20 groups.
He also worked as Private Secretary to India’s Finance Minister and as District Collector of Virudhunagar. His career has combined domestic governance experience with international economic engagement.
