Neeraj Mittal is Secretary of India’s Department of Telecommunications. A 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, he has led major reforms in governance, technology, and investment promotion.
Earlier, Mittal was Senior Advisor at the World Bank, where he worked on information technology and development projects. He also led the LPG Cash Transfer program and the “Give It Up” campaign at India’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. In Tamil Nadu, he headed the state’s Industrial Guidance Bureau, IT and Digital Services Department, and Urban Finance Corporation.
Mittal graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, earned a Master of Business Administration from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom, and a doctorate from Ohio State University in the United States.
