In a sector built on trust and long horizons, Vibha Padalkar has quietly reshaped the growth story of Indian life insurance. As Managing Director and CEO of HDFC Life, she leads one of the country’s largest private insurers with a steady focus on scale, resilience and disciplined execution. Padalkar joined HDFC Life in 2008 and played a pivotal role in its 2017 public listing while serving as Executive Director and CFO. 

When she took over as MD and CEO in 2018, the company’s individual weighted received premium market share stood at 7.5 per cent. By FY2025, it had grown to 11.1 per cent, with assets under management crossing $33 billion in June 2024. She also steered the first merger-and-acquisition transaction in the Indian life insurance sector, marking a defining moment in the industry’s evolution. 

A member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Padalkar blends financial expertise with long-term strategic vision.
