Kaku Nakhate, President & Country Head (India) of Bank of America
As President and India Country Executive of Bank of America, Kaku Nakhate oversees the firm’s strategy in one of its most vital growth markets, while serving on the bank’s Asia Pacific Executive Committee since 2010. Her career reflects the development of India’s financial services industry itself.
Nakhate began at DSP Merrill Lynch in 1989, eventually heading its Global Markets business during a period when India’s equity and institutional landscape was rapidly expanding. After Bank of America acquired Merrill Lynch globally, she was appointed chief executive of the merged entity in India, guiding the transition at a pivotal moment for the industry.
Nakhate’s role as Vice Chairperson at JPMorgan Chase in India enhanced her cross-institutional perspective. Now, she works with major corporates and financial institutions, linking domestic opportunities with global capital flows. Outside the bank, she is on the National Executive Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in India and the Board of Governors of IIM Ahmedabad. She advocates for education, skills, and opportunities for adolescent girls, extending her influence beyond boardrooms into community impact.
