Twenty AI Builders Shaping India's Intelligent Future

The next phase of India’s AI economy is taking shape now.

Across Bengaluru, Chennai, Gurugram, Hyderabad and IIT campuses, a new generation of founders, researchers and innovators is building the models, infrastructure and applications that will define how a billion people use artificial intelligence.

The AI20 list spans the breadth of this ecosystem: venture-backed startups scaling rapidly, government-backed academic consortia creating public-good infrastructure, corporate innovation labs with enterprise reach, and deep-tech founders tackling problems that may take years to fully mature.

On National Technology Day, MIT Sloan Management Review India recognizes 20 organizations selected for their technical differentiation, funding momentum, and potential to influence markets.

These are the companies, labs, and institutions that investors, enterprise leaders and policymakers should be watching.

Editor’s Note: MIT Sloan Management Review’s AI Research Forum will make its India debut in Bengaluru on 23 July, bringing together enterprise leaders, researchers, and practitioners to examine how autonomous AI is moving from experimentation to governed deployment at scale.
